Wheel trims in the UK: sizes, fitting and delivery

Wheel trims, hubcaps, wheel covers: three names for the same plastic disc that clips over a steel wheel. This page is about that part as you buy it here in the UK — the sizes, what actually fits, what a set costs delivered, and how long it takes to arrive. Ours are printed with your own image, but the sizing and fitting below apply to any set.

One part, three names

In the UK and Ireland the part is a wheel trim. In the US it is a hubcap. Retailers write wheel cover. It is the same disc, sold in fours, one per wheel. If the vocabulary trips you up, the hubcap, wheel trim and rim page separates the four words properly.

Your size is written on the tyre

Crouch by a wheel and read the sidewall. You are looking for something like 195/65 R15 91H. The number straight after the R is your size in inches — 15 in that example. That is the number you order. Nothing else on the tyre matters for this.

The size guide walks through the three traps, and each size has its own page: 12", 13", 14", 15", 16", 17".

Usual sizes on cars you see on British roads

These come from our own compatibility database, not from a generic chart. Trim levels change the wheel, so read your tyre before you order — this table tells you what to expect, not what you have.

Renault Clio IV 15 or 16 inch
Nissan Micra 14 inch

They fit steel wheels, not alloys

A wheel trim clips onto the rim of a plain steel wheel with a flat face. Three cases do not work, and no wheel trim on the market fixes them:

  • Alloy wheels. There is nothing for the clips to grip.
  • Steel wheels styled to look like alloys (Flexwheel and similar). The face is shaped, so the trim will not sit flat.
  • Strongly convex steel wheels. Same problem, for the same reason.

We checked 449 models across 41 brands one by one, and the list marks the ones where the answer depends on the trim level. The set in our photographs was fitted and checked on a Renault Trafic II with 16-inch steel wheels.

What a set costs, delivered to the UK

One set is four trims, one per wheel, all in the same design, in one parcel. Sets run from €79.90 for 12 inch to €129.90 for 17 inch; 15 inch is €89.90. Prices are in euros, because the shop bills in euros — your card does the conversion.

Delivery here, at the rates in force on 12 August 2026:

  • Standard, 7 to 12 days: €25.90 for one 12-inch set, €42.90 for one 17-inch set. Two sets: €46.90 and €93.90.
  • DHL Express, 3 to 7 days: from €171.90.

There is no flat fee and no free shipping: you pay the carrier's rate for the weight and the destination. For deliveries outside the European Union, duties and taxes may apply on arrival; they are payable by the recipient, according to the destination country's customs rules. The delivery page has every country and every weight bracket.

Fitting takes five minutes

Line the valve hole up with the valve, offer the trim up to the rim, then press round the edge with the heel of your hand until the clips bite. No tools. The fitting guide covers retention rings, and if you have lost trims before, why they come off is worth five minutes of your time — it is almost always the fitting, not the trim.

Printing, washing and winter

The design is UV-printed in high definition onto injection-moulded reinforced PP, with a matt anti-glare finish. It is car-wash safe; with a pressure washer, stay about 30 cm back. Road salt does not attack the plastic, but it does get behind the trim, so winter deserves its own routine, and cleaning without scratching is mostly a matter of what you do not use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a single wheel trim? No. They are sold as a set of four, one per wheel, all printed with the same design.

Will they fit my alloys? No. Wheel trims are for steel wheels.

How long does an order take to reach the UK? Seven to twelve days on Standard, three to seven with DHL Express, after production. Nothing is held in stock: printing starts once you have ordered.

Are printed wheel trims legal? They cover the wheel, not the lights or the plates. The guide on custom hubcaps and inspections goes through it country by country.
